HUD Display in KPH (Metric)

Does anyone know if the Head-up Display (HUD) on the 2011 X5 35i Premium can display the current speed in KPH (vice MPH)?

check in your idrive if you can change the units to metric. if yes, then this should change your HUD also.

Thanks. I haven't taken delivery yet so I can't confirm. But my assumption is the idrive does allow metric settings (according to the on-line manual) so that should show on the HUD - as you mentioned. Just couldn't find it explicitly noted anywhere.

IIRC, the metric settings are for temperature and fuel consumption/remaining only. I don't believe that I had the option to set my HUD to MPH from KM/H. Then again, I don't have MPH on the speedo either. It may be different in the US as I believe that your speedos have KM/H as well as MPH.

It always pissed me off that the canadian BMWs have the metric-only speedometer while the americans have the dual speedometer. Our only direct neighbour uses the Imperial system and we cannot use it as a reference on the single most important instrument in the instrument cluster. It does not make any sense.

In my 2009 if you change the units from mph to kph in idrive it also changes it for the HUD. I would expect the same for your 2011

Thanks for the info on the HUD. I am sure if the 2009 has it, it should have it in 2011. Much appreciated!

Is this true, or is it specific to those equipped with HUD?

Sorry to ask, but I just got the 2011, w/o HUD. My iDrive doesn't let me select any imperial settings.
