2)When are the Bridgestone 3rd generation runflats be available?

Sorry, I do not want to steal your thread, but do you really want to go for RFT?
I have just installed normal tyres and they are way much better than RFT

I agree runflats are not as comfortable, but do you really want to be at the side of the road changing a tyre on such a huge car?

+1
or in the desert in 110℉ heat.
I agree RF's ride harder and I think it depends on where you do most of your driving. If it's in the cities or on well used highways you can just call and get road side service to do it. But if you drive in places that you might not even have cell coverage(BMW assist doesn't work here either) RF's might be a wise choice.

Not a daily occurence. I have 3, maybe 4 flats in 30 years.

I guess it depends on your location and experience with flats.

I have a spare, so once my ruin flats wear out, Michelins go on.

How many times did you have a flat tyre? I have had it once in 5 years and I have used a tyreweld http://www.holtsauto.com/products/gr...ce/tyre-repair - worked like a charm
There is no need even to take the wheel off.

Alternatively, you can buy this http://www.conticomfortkit.co.uk/

With RFT, you have to change the tyre, with normal tyre you can still repair it + the riding conform. Anyway, I am voting for normal tyres - this is my choice.

PS AA membership would be also beneficial

Yes RFT sucks. In good roads maybe do not feel anything but if the road is rubbish is pain in the A**. I feel like my tyres are made from wood.

3rd Gen'n Bridgestones Run Flats

Has anyone taken delivery of new x5/x6 regular or M's, supplied with the new Bridgestone 3G Runflat's??
3G's runflats are distinguishable by the sidewall cooling fins(bumps).
If so how's the ride?

I've had my 2010 X6 35i with the new Bridgestone's for about a week now, and have put about 1,000 km of city, expressway and unpaved country road driving on them.

My impressions are mostly positive, though I can't compare them to previous generation run-flats, since these are my first.

Compared to regular tires though I think that the differences are quite small. The X6 has a fairly tight suspension and so there is more road feel than from some other brands, but that aside, the only difference that I feel is a bit more jolt on rough surfaces when driving at speed.

Overall I think that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages, since I once changed a flat on an expressway in a rainstorm. Never again.

I am going to get rid of the run-flats and won't be going back to them. I opted for the spare tire option and it does not take longer than 10 mins to change a tire for anyone that has done it before and how often do you get flat tires? I have not had one in over 3 years (knock on wood!)

The convenience of not having to change a tire and a harsher ride is not worth about $200+ additional per tire to me. I would rather save that for other mods!
