Combox questions for 2011 X5M

So, I have been through a lot of posts and retrofit sites over the past 4 hours and I have a reasonable idea of what's required but I could do with some clarification.

Which model of combox is compatible with the E70 X5? There are a few on eBay but they all have different model numbers and the model numbers are not listed on the retrofit site pages (probably for obvious reasons)

Anyway, I'm wondering if all E series comboxes would be compatible?

Is a combox on its own enough to stream BT audio from my phone? It would appear so. Although the coding to allow the car to use its apps apparently is another $500 or so which doesn't seem worth it.

Any other pointers I may need?

at almost $1200 for the combox and apps coding - that seems like 50% of the cost of retrofitting NBT which is ludicrous.

I did the retrofit combox and apps on 2010 X5M....honestly for me was a waste of money as BT audio was the best feature ...the apps were somewhat disappointing ..for the ones on eBay u will still need to do some coding and there was a special harness that bimmertek provided ...there is an old thread here that lists out the install ...if you are going to send 1k plus I would do NBT

Thanks for the information - I think I'll do the combox for BT audio streaming if I can find one for less than $400. Otherwise I'll do NBT.

Check on the harness that bimmertech shows on website and than there is some coding that still needs to be done or you will have a bunch of warning lights and the BT won't work ...unfortunately it wasn't a straight plug and play ...EAS did mine with assistance of bimmertech doing remote coding
