E70 x5m muffler delete: 2.5” or 3”?

Hi, looking to do a muffler delete on my ‘13 x5m.

Do I need to do 3” tubing or is 2.5” ok? Muffler shop says 2.5” will be substantially cheaper

The attached is what I’m looking to replicate (same fabricated tips)

Youre going to want to stick with atleast the stock size of the pipe , remember you're turbo charged , so the more flow you have make it easier for your turbo's to spool , DO NOT. Restrict it

Follow up question. Shop guy said it makes more sense to delete resonators than muffler because it would be less noisy.

Can anyone confirm?

You aren't going to get much in sound with just that. If you do some searches you'll see a couple people went with that and were disappointed.

I'm getting everything together to make a delete kit, only thing you would need is a shop to weld it on. I suggest finding a fab shop that does stainless though, so it doesn't look like shit. I am a fabricator , and I love stainless, sucks you are on the west coast.
