Yes, he's on Richmond not far from the Galleria. Looks shady but nice people.

kennyt - beautiful truck! Well done scooping it up in the US & not getting jammed with CDN prices. I am in the process of trying to do so myself as well & appreciate all the insight you shared. Do you happen to have a few mins to chat offline please (email or phone?). Would it be too much to ask you to PM me how I can touch base w/you? I would PM you myself, but don't have enough posts to do so yet. I just want to make sure I am 100 pct all set before I transact & would appreciate any other advice you may have, particularly as it pertains to dealing with the US dealership you bought from.

Thx a million in advance!

Cheers.

Nice ride kennyt! A quick question, you said you got the Warranty Vehicle Inquiry document from a BMW dealer. Was that a dealer in the US? What did you pay for that? I heard the US dealers aren't providing that letter anymore to protect the Cdn dealers?

It was from a BMW dealer and I did not pay for it. Some US dealers refuse to provide the document to owners because BMW has classified it as "Confidential" and "Not to be Shared With Third Parties". I argued with the service advisor that I was the owner, not third party but he was afraid of getting his wrist slapped. I finally sweet talked another service advisor to fax it to me. Now, the salesman I dealt with was able to get a copy of it for me.

So that was while you were still in the US or you did that before you made the trek down to actually pick it up? I am considering picking one up in the US, however, I want to ensure I have my ducks in a row before going down and if they don't provide the letter I don't want to be stuck going to a CDN dealer for it. Plus they would make me change the cluster.

that was before I went down. You need to ensure RIV accepts it before doing the import. You should include the letter as part of the deal if you purchase it from a dealer. No letter no deal. They're desperate for your business down there as I still receive emails daily from the US dealers.

But you lost 80000 km free services... Waranty is ok without problem in either country, but dealership free services costly..I studied the case, found not worth doing it.. Coz I run a company and need lease it for tax deduction. If you buyout, you lose it...

Free services such as fluid changes are honored in Canada, except brakes. Did my homework before purchasing in the US. I do most of maitenance myself after warranty anyway so $12K that I save can buy me a lot of parts.
