I'm looking for the same thing. Have you looked on ebay? they have w/without the burnt tips on there for around $430 brand new...I'm not big on ebay but the price is tempting for an axle back setup

Cattivo, its not even an axle back its literally just a muffler. But having said that it is by far the cheapest of whats available to us.

Cut the pipe and inch behind the stock mufflers with a sawzall or a muffler cutting tool. Cut the angle perpendicular to the angle of the pipes, creating a 90* angle. That should take 5 mins per pipe if you're slow.

Then unbolt the exhaust from the car at the hangerpoints, pull it out and remove the red rubber pieces from the hangers.

Ensure the hangers on the new mufflers are not bent, they should be at a right angle and parallel to the ground. If they are bent up, the exhaust will hang too low and you will have to pull the rubber attachments back off to bend the hangers to the correct angle. So, check first, and bend until it's parallel to the ground BEFORE sliding the rubber pieces on. I used the bar from the jack as a make shift breaker bar, one of the hangers was bent up.

Grab two of these now from Amazon;
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...rch_detailpage

and some sealer;
http://www.amazon.com/Permatex-80335...exhaust+sealer

Right before mounting, apply sealer to the inside of the Megan pipes and to the outside of the midpipes

Slide the exhaust onto the mid pipes and bolt the hangers to the mounting points.

Remove the bolts from the clamps, apply sealer and install over the seam of the pipes.

Now tighten the clamps. I like to get mine 90% tightened and then alternate cranks between the bolts , this ensures the clamp fastens straight and without an angle.

Ensure you plug up the vacuum lines that were removed from the exhaust valve.

I haven't had a leak since replacing the supplied clamps with the clamps above. Might get this welded at some point but as of now, I see no reason to.

If you are happy with the sound, get it welded. If not, have your stock cans modified and welded back to the mids.

Thanks for the step by step directions Seems like a pretty easy job. I just need to buy some new metal blades for my sawzall, and rent a Mig welder from Home Depot and try laying down a stack of dimes. I haven't welded in a while but I'm sure it will come back to me

Awesome!

Thanks for the write-up

My Megan racing exhaust just arrived and once I popped my head under there and noticed I had to cut the pipes I wondered if I would have the time to do this myself

Great confidence builder in this thread

Thanks again. I'll share pics once I'm done

I'm in the DFW btw

We have had ours installed for two weeks and we really like the slightly more aggressive exhaust note. Lots of fun! Downpipes need to be the next mod.

I've got mine and had it on for about 2 weeks now, but to be honest I'm a tad disappointed. Previously I had my exhaust flaps tied open with zip ties and I was looking for something just a little more aggressive than that. To me, the megan exhaust is a little quieter at WOT compared with just having the flaps open. I might look into doing the OEM muffler mod since that looks like it can give me the extra bit of grumble I'm looking for.

I'm doing straight pipes instead...I think even with the Megan exhaust it won't be as loud as I'd like so I'm selling it

Hey what's up. Straight pipes would sound crazy. I decided to go with the exhaust cutout route. I would definitely recommend looking into it. The straight pipe might be a little too mean for a daily driver lol. Good luck with whatever you end up going with. Looking forward to seeing some clips
