E70 transmission question

I have a 2011 X5 E70 3.0l and the ZF8HP45 transmission went bad. I got a new (used) transmission but need to swap out the mechatronic to keep the original mechatronic with the car. The original has a lot of metal shavings in it from the bad trans. Instead of trying to clean it, can just the electronics from the original mechatronic be swapped out or can the electronics not be removed?

Pretty sure just the electronics can be removed. There is a YouTuber named Zero To 60 who has a ton of videos on 3 series transmissions but they will apply the same to yours. He did a lot of turbilamik install videos where he messes with all the electric bits. You should be able to follow those as a guide.
