Navigation Hard Drive failed

So my hard drive in my 2010 E70 started clicking and I lost Nav, voice command, telephone contact list,DVD functionality, etc... I was able to get a replacement SSD drive but I do not have an original image to put on the new drive. Does anybody have any experience with this??

Oh man... this sucks. BMW will likely tell you you need a replacement CIC...

That will be a chunk of change.

Likely better to just do this:

EDITED x2 - Maybe don't pay $20 to europe... check this torrent for an image and a copy of acronis in the same package. That should get you rolling for free. You'll just need a way to address PATA (USB to PATA adapters are out there [Amazon etc...]) or mSATA (USB to MSATA) depending on the combo you went with.

I haven't fooled around with it yet, but if it's a bare bones image you should be in good shape. You'll need to put the code in for enabling Nav, but that's supposedly easy to do with a USB key in the glove box (though mine hasn't worked at all since CIC replacement)

If I were you I'd pay the $20, download and install the image, and toss it in the car to see what happened.

If you desire getting up to the latest map...

This torrent magnet worked for me, but again; haven't been able to try it yet:

Trying the CIC download. I have the PATA adapter for my PC so fingers crossed! I'll post an update when I determine if the download works or not. Either way Thanks!

Hang tight.

So... make sure you're using 7zip.

Right click on the 001 file - choose Merge Files

The output will be a single .7z file that is not encrypted at all...

It's a .tib file that Acronis can use to image the HDD.

I feel like quite the idiot for having spent hours of machine time brute forcing an archive that was never protected at all. Sigh.

@greddy91 -- I also have a failed HD in my E93 M3. I downloaded the torrent and tried to merge the files as noted but still get the password prompt and am unable to extract the .tib file. Can you post the version of 7zip you used? I'm using the most recent, perhaps they fixed a security hole or something...thanks!
