2007 X5 questions and help needed!!!

Hey all!!

I am looking into buying an 07 X5 with less than 9000kms on it. How can that be you ask, lol. Write off, auction sale. A buddy bought this and has since lost interest on it without touching it. He does not have the patience or time to mess with it so I am thinking about taking on this project. All I need is a few pointers on parts availability on these and maybe a few insiders tips on locating them.

The X5 had a front right side collision that happened to push in the inner frame rail on the right side and I would imagine the front rad support aswell. So what is needed is the rad support, inner right frame rail, right fender, front bumper cover and inner bumper support, right side headlight assembly etc. If it's on that side of the car up front I will need it. I have looked around on the web wthout much luck. I know it isn't going to be a cheap fix and then I have the write off inspection after the repair but the deal is too good to pass up. The collision was so "minor" that the air bags didn't deploy. I know they can get pricey. So let me know what you guys think or if you have any info.

Also if this turns out to be a fiasco or way to hard to find parts how are these things for parting out? Would it be worth it after all the disassembly and time??

Thanks in advance,

Chris

I am far from an X5 expert, but I wouldn't touch that project at all unless: 1. you have a ton of money, and 2. you are expert at repairing BMW SAVs. Even if you are knowlegible, and wealthy, you still may not end up with an X5 that drives properly or feels "right".

Run away from the idea, IMO.
