Quick Help Needed

Guys,

I have a X6 35D (2009) with Non-Heated Sports Steering Wheel...

I won this on ebay, is it a simple case of swap and plug and play? or plug and prey! :-)

thanks.

Appreciate your responses.

T.

Hmmmm....not sure. But, I've had the heated steering wheel on my last 3 BMWs and love it, even in San Diego. Hope it's an easy install for you, can't imagine it would be otherwise as the controls to turn the heating on/off are built into the wheel. On my M5, the control was on the column.

I also got the same steering wheel from eBay. When the garage did the swap, they said there couldn't find the extra wire in the steering column to plug into the steering wheel heater, so I left that out. Also, the function keys on the right side couldn't map to the original functions. So now, the M button becomes the change audio source.

I think you need a new slip ring to get the heated part to work, nice DIY from someone who did this on there X5 in link below..

Did you have the sports steering wheel before or just the standard one?

thanks.

Forgot to mention I have this spec...

My X6 is Model FG02 E71 X6 xDrive35d M57 with sports wheel, I've heard sometimes these already have the heated wiring, need to take wheel off and check!

Thanks Tichx, that's great information, but I am ok to leave out the heated function.

I got the standard sports steering (I think it is standard for the X6), not the M Sport steering wheel originally.
