Is driver side ventilation set the same as passenger side in the Idrive menu? This makes a HUGE difference especially if one is dialed all the way to the top and the other all the way to the bottom

Are you sure you have checked the underlying ventilation settings? The digital dial and the ventilation setting are not one and the same. The reason I ask is that you said "as well as the rear" yet there is no ventilation setting for the rear only the digital dials. Before taking it in for service check the ventilation dial which is set using the nav wheel for left and right.

This setting is found under climate controls in the Idrive menu

You are correct,,just got back from the dealer,,,low freon. I was told that the only reason that the drivers side was blowing colder is that its by design,,when the system detects that its low it all goes to the driver side,,,because thats whose most important at that time,,,, ;-)

Did they check for leaks to fix the underlying problem? In theory you should not need freon or R134 whatever they use now.
