The concept of connected drive is dated.
With Smart phones (iPhone), 3G/4G, the intelligence is in the iPhone/iPAD. Making custom technology for a car makes no sense since most people want the capability wherever they are. Not just while in a car. BMW is about 10 years too late. Before long you will simply dock your iPhone in a car and it will provide GPS/music, email, voice, etc. The car will simply provide the keyboard and monitor.

read the options on the website. The iDrive will be able to sync with smartphones to sync things like calender etc to the iDrive. When you get to your destination, you can also send the navigation data to your phone so that you can continue using the iDrive data when u exit the car.

seems kind of odd, definitely I would not want (collision braking, lane departure, active cruise control, etc) as I buy BMWs to drive them not have them drive me. the informational service (google maps, etc) are available now on my iphone and ipad. things like market info and internet would not be available to folks in the USA anyway due to laws. Cross border services don't extend to US so folks in Arizona are out of luck.
Don't even get me starting on what I think of BMWs traffic service, major joke. But there are a lot of folks that will want the latest computer UI in their car and will even wait to buy until it's available , so I'm in the minority. |
