Arrow (HELP!) e70 X5M Coolant Hose Quick Clip

I was working on my X5, had to remove the coolant host from the IC and the quick clip broke.
Dealers tell me I need to purchase a new hose. That's crazy.
Does anyone know where to locate these quick clips for the IC coolant hose? I have looked all over and can't find it.

I attached an image of the left IC and the hose.

Can anyone guide me to finding a quick clip?

Do you mean the metal clip that slots into the plastic to lock the hose onto the nipple? If that broke (seen people lose those, not really break them) you'll likely have to find one at a pick n pull style junkyard if you don't want to buy a new hose. Dealer is right, no part number for those metal clips.

That happened to me too on my old 330i however mine flew out and disappeared into oblivion when I only had a parking lot to work in. Never found it.

Take one off the other hose and go to the hardware store and buy a similar gauge steel rod. Then if you have a vise and pliers you can bend up a new one for about $5. Nothing terribly special going on with those it’s just a retaining clip.

Happened to me on the bottom of the expansion tank. Was taking the bottom hose off and the clip vanished.

Got myself a nice $200 clip from the dealer that came with a free hose. Lesson learned.

I’d do a new hose as well because I’d look at it as “might as well take this chance to replace it.”

But when I was younger I didn’t always have the luxury of waiting on a part. Sometimes you gotta Get it fixed before work Monday morning.

Here’s a quick video on how someone bent one up.

So typically the dealer is right. Those clips come with the connector or in this case the hose. Sometimes if your friendly with the dealer they’ll just give you one. Or order the hose how much can it be?

P.s. a lot of those metal clips aren’t meant to be pulled. You push them in, and they release so no chance of going boing. I had to learn that the hard way with a map sensor. However sometimes is easier to pull them with a pick. But instead of a pick, use forceps….. that way you won’t loose it in the future.
