You’re lucky enough to be so close at 99 percent. Drive your car to Totality and experience it for yourself. There’s nothing like this experience.

No, purely based on Murphy's Law. Not only the eclipse, but it is always cloudy whenever I receive an aurora alert for northern lights visible in our region.

For another example, I have yet to experience an earthquake. The one in NJ on Friday morning was about 70 miles from home...but I was down in SC at the time and didn't feel a thing.....

Considering you have a heart condition, I don't think you want to experience it. Take it from someone who's been through several, it can be downright frightening. I believe they have been known to cause cardiac events.

I want to say goodbye to all of you here, all my friends. You have all been fantastic !

Whilst I'm not selling my BMW

I've come to understand that EOT is 8th April (End of Times)
so when the end comes I will be with my DD & dogo , having a picnic
I can't tell you the time, although I guess by the timing the end of the world is probably around

4:31:41pm EST if timezones before EST go down I guess you or I would be next !

I can't think of any better way to go

Au revoir mon amis !

I wont post any links, but do google search

I am 99% on the path and will have approx. 3 minutes and 20 seconds of full eclipse.

I`m taking the day off so I can watch it with the wife.

My house was quite close to the totality in 2017 and we had a few visitors from a bit further away. Yes, an eclipse is interesting, but I find the brouhaha amusing. It's simply not *THAT* big a deal, is it? Buying airplane tickets? Making hotel reservations?

Exactly, it's not as if it's once every 500 lifetimes either (roughly 20 years or so?), and we can see LOTS of footage online later on. I am kinda interested to see if there will be near darkness in what normally should be daytime but that's about it.

Just saw your post and see that CPS is also closed to students tomorrow. They explain it as:

"This decision reflects our commitment to safety and efficiency, particularly considering the expected transportation delays and the risk to students walking home post-dismissal."

Since the wife's Pilates class ends at 3 PM, I'm wondering if there's expected to be some sort of general drama going on outside that we're going to encounter on the drive back home. I can't imagine what that might be, but it is 2024, after all.

Test shot from my driveway. I hear the roads heading into the 100% area are already getting packed. I hope my backroad route isn't bad.

I'm going home early to finish my work at home, I don't want idiots who will cause accidents because they are to busy looking up instead of focusing on driving. Car accidents are the second most dangerous things about eclispes.

Haha! It's straight up ridiculous if you ask me! Seems like the schools around here are more scared of liability than ever before. I am not sure how the older generation made it to and from school before in the rain and snow. Now a days, if its going to rain hard or snow, all of the schools here in Cincinnati close their doors the evening before. Pretty wild if you ask me.

My wife and daughter are excited for it, but I am like eh.

Seems like yesterday we just went through this hype machine, don't worry there will be another one in 6 months but you will have to be on a yacht in the Pacific to see it.
