wheel and tire sizes
Yesterday I switched from my 19 inch 35i sport wheels and tires to a set of OEM 18 inch (with the narrower corresponding tires) for the winter months.
My 19''s are Dunlap summer tires, the 18's are Michelin all season tires. There is an unbelievable improvement in ride quality, comfort and refinement. Further, the vehicle feels lighter and more nimble. With the larger wheels and tires, I have honestly been disappointed with the truck like ride and handling of my vehicle. The improvement with the wheel change is amazing. Do they look as nice? In a word, NO, it is going to be very interesting to see what happens to my combined gas milage of 16.2 over the next few months. My thought before the switch was to get rid of the run flats on my 19's before remounting them in the spring. Now I may seriously consider replacing the run flat 18's with new non run flat rubber and call it a day. After living with my vehicle for 4 months , I wish I had opted for the V8 over the 6 as well. Its not that I need more power, but I'm not thrilled with the cheap sounds that comes from the blown 6. |
