Backup Camera - Yes I searched ;-)

Just got my 2004 X5 4.8is with sport pkg. When I put it in reverse, the screen goes blank. Does that mean I'm supposed to have a backup camera? There is a camera on the license plate holder, but I'm thinking the previous owner may have had it installed to work with an aftermarket stereo they may have had installed. Just a guess.

Also, when I unlock my doors, and before I put the key in, the screen comes on but its blank. It looks like when I put it in reverse. The dealer said this is normal.

Really depends on what's on the screen at the time I guess....!

Was the radio on or tv on when you put in reverse?

Was there any logo on the screen when you opened the door?

If I have the radio on, and put it in reverse, the screen goes blank. I can still hear the radio though.

When the car is off, and I unlock it, I open the door, no logo. It's just on temporarily, then turns off if I sit there for a minute.

When you open the door and it turns on, that sounds normal but when you put in reverse and the screen goes blank, let me double check with my car then I'll let you know.
