2007 4.8 to 2012 3.5?

Can anyone share their experiences going from a 2007 4.8 to Sport a 3.5i Sport?

I'm thinking I'd like to get a new X5- the new nav and transmission seem appealing. It's tough because it's either bump down to the 3.5i or bump up to the 5.0 which seems excessive for me.

Anyone dropped to the lower horsepower and have regrets? I'm hoping the new transmission and turbo help offset the HP drop.
