Launch Control not available on x6M in canada??
went to look at the x6m today . Asked about launch control and if it was limited to a specific number of launches like our m3 smg is and they told us lanuch control in not available on the x6/x5m cars in canada is this true? I only ask because half the time these idiots at dealerships are uneducated on there own cars... believe me I was telling the stupid salesman more about the x6m than he was lol anyways can someone pls clarify this LC question thx

Isn't that the truth. Its frustrating too. Not only are they ignorant about the facts, but they make stuff up which is completely false. No LC in CA? C'mon man!
When I test drove the '11 35i, I was trying to make small talk and just mentioned the new twin-screw turbo and 8-speed tranny. My SA was like, "Well looks like you know about this than me". He also couldn't tell me if it had Adaptive Drive. He looked at the options list and was like "I don't see it listed". I'm thinking, "Really? This is your business, dude!" I realize they aren't going to know everything about every car they sell, but damn. |

Too many BMW salespeople in Canada are simply order takers. They do not take the time to educate themselves. When I bought my first BMW 20 years ago the person I dealt with knew their stuff. BMW Canada needs to use some mystery shoppers to test and improve the quality of the sales experience. After sales surveys only measure the people who actually bought.

Useless BMW Sales people
Not only are many not knowledgeable (but are always "nice" guys), but when BMW sends you the survey about your sales experience, the sales guy begs for top ratings, implying he will be disciplined/fired/sent to Siberia otherwise - using the "make you feel bad" card. Funny thing is, I did give crap ratings to one guy (who deserved it) and he was fired (not sure because of me).
This often extends to Service, but that's another post for another day... Anyways, this is a problem in lots of places. Try going to Best Buy and talking about anything - most of those morons have a clue and can barely tie their shoes. People just don't care. I just educate myself. When people ask me "can I help you", I just say "yes, go away". |

zigger, I went to buy my x6m the week it came out and the dealer told me its a twin turbo v6 lol
You can certainly use launch control on the Canadian models, but I could not find anything about it in the manual. I figured out how to do it once someone posted on here. As for if it is bad for the car, I think it might be. I know launch control is fine to do on a dual clutch system, which I do not think the X6M has.. but it is just too much fun not to do |
