e90 oil pan gasket

The oil pan gasket on my 2011 BMW 328i has started to leak.

FCP offers these two gaskets

Wondering which one to get, would one hold more than the other? What other options are there - seems that all e90 have this problems so maybe there is something out there which is even more durable?

The oil pan gasket leak is very common. IMO both of those gaskets are substandard. The real way to seal the pan, as many members have done, is to use Permatex Ultra Black RTV and coat both sides.

You will need a new set of aluminum bolts. This is a good time to change out the engine mounts. I also changed out the aluminum bolts on the engine mount bracket. I did one side because I ordered only one set of bolts at the time.

Victor Reinz pan gasket and Adjusa oil level sensor gasket were what I used:

The real seal for me is:

They are the same gasket, so go with the Elring one. Unless it was dripping on your garage floor, it’s not worth replacing, though, in my opinion.

Just did this job and ordered from this dealer on ebay:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/185753637242

Def get new bolts and do the motor mounts, and tranny mounts, while you're there. I also replaced the passenger side bolts on the motor mount bracket (known to break off). The driver's side motor mount bracket bolts looks like I'll need to remove the intake manifold so I will do that at a later time.

Yes, very good recommendation on the engine mounts. I will look into the gasket you recommended, thanks

Very good suggestions. Are these the engine bracket bolts?

Also, I found this kit on fcp that seems to have everything.

^ yes those are the engine mount bracket bolts.

+1 just use the FCP kit then. It is more convenient. And if you order from FCP then just get the Corteco pan gasket all from the same seller.

If it's not dripping then I doubt it's leaking and it's a very big job, especially unnecessarily. My oil leak on my exhaust was from my valve cover gskt. as was a previous leak which caused an injector failure. The pan gskt. is such a big job that I won't be revisiting it even in the event of a minor leak.

When it comes to the oil pan gasket I usually just say leave it unless it is getting severe especially for xdrive models. Might be easier to just have a qt or 2 handy of Liqui Moly.
