Need Some Advice on Buying X5
Guys,
I am looking at buying an X5 for my wife. Is it better to buy a new diesel with the credits and rebates or to buy a preowned v8? Also, on the V8, if certified, how much mileage is too much mileage? I'm asking because I'm kind of surprised by the pricing. I saw a 2008 4.8 with everything with 38,000 miles and the price is in the $50s certified. Thanks! |

Re
That's true and whenever I've purchased a used car in the past, it was typically a car someone traded in less than a year after purchase with low mileage (less than 8k miles).
So what are your thoughts on diesel and the potential price of diesel in the future? To us that seems to be the only negative. We're also trying to decide between ordering a 2010 or a 2011, since they will be here so soon. |

I have a 4.8i and I love it. It is however very thirsty. I think that for the vast majority of people the 3.0i is more than enough. I test drove the 35d and I was impressed by it. I think that if I would change my 4.8i I would buy a 35d.
I've had two X5s and I had no problems except for bad O2 sensors, a failed ignition coil and a burnt bulb. Other people have had nightmares in terms of reliability. Take in mind that the X5 are usually severely abused by their owners with the resulting stress on the chassis and its components. A 2008 with 38K miles seems to me a bit high in mileages. Personally, I've had two X5s in the last 44 months and I have accumulated only 31K km (19K miles) but I am the exception rather than the rule. Other than that, I highly recommend the X5. Good luck. |

LCI X5 with M Packet looks very good! If the car is for your wife I think that she doesn t need a very thirsty car so the 35d might be the best option
