How to fix door dings?
I know our X6s are wide, but that doesn't mean people can go wild and slam their door into our car
I bought the car for 5 months, and I already have 3 dings on my door. Today I parked all the way in the corner of the lot, just to avoid these people. The parking spaces were empty on both sides when I left. For some reason, people just love to park next to me... When I come back, spaces around became all occupied. Guess what? Another ding on the door, biggest one so far. Do you guys have any experience or recommendation on fixing these dings? I have seen some methods on google, using heatgun & dry ice. I think these may work on bigger dents, but not on sharp door dings. I have also thought about taking the door panel apart, and massage it slowly from the inside. The question is, I have never seen inside the door panel, will I be able to access the area where the dings are? |

There's a thread about WTF moments in one of the e70 forums that I attend. I, and some others report the same as you: you can park out in the sticks, then come out of wherever you were and there's cars right next to it.
I've had that experience ever since I had my e53. It's especially prevalent at the movie theater. I've had them not only park next to me (with no other car within 50 spaces), but so close our mirrors overlapped! (getting in the car that day was NOT fun.) The x5s have side moulding though, so I've never gotten dings from such antics. |

break their fingers. Seriously I live on NorCal where being successful makes you an evil person and it justifies people hitting your car door. When I bought mine the dealer had ding and dent protection for $800, best money I've spent. Periodically when the car is in for service ( SA inspects the car for dings and dents, required by dealer) and if he notices a door ding asks if I want them to take care of it. I always try to park next to another expensive car, as this seems to lessen the chance of a ding. The park in the back forty doesn't seem to work. |

I was never offered dings and dents protection..
What are the cheapest way to fix these dings? I am thinking about opening up the door panel, and massage it from inside. Does anyone have a guide or some sort of taking out the door panel? |

fixing a door ding is something you don't want to mess with yourself, it takes long time and practice to master. I would recommend some specialist to do it, should be less than a $100/ding
