Could be a small rock chip stuck between the pad and rotor. It would eventually drop out or get ground down. Probably wouldn't score the rotor but you could look for a groove.

My Advice whenever you hear an odd noise is to speed up so the road/engine noise drowns it out. If you can't hear it then it doesn't exist.
