Friend looking for X5, realiability a concern??
So my friend is looking for a used x5, like a 03 or so, and he said he had heard that the x5's arent very reliable. I however think that they are no worse then the BMW cars or Audi's or the like, and MUCH better then Tahoe's and Yukon's which is also on his list.
How do they compare? Any major problems to worry about, like the 335 and the fuel pumps, or some dumb gremlin. Thanks for the replies. |

I had a 2006 E53 X5 4.4i and I currently have a 2007 E70 4.8i. The only problems I had/have are the O2 sensors that fail. They were all replaced under warranty. I keep reading that the older X5 (2004 and less) are not so reliable. Overall, I would recommend buying an X5 it really is an excellent vehicle.
Cheers. |

x5world I think they might have renamed it, but that forum has TONS of articles and DIY stuff
watch out for outer CV boots, rather expensive if a shop fixes them, rather difficult to diy, final relays go out on pretty much all of them, easy fix, waterpumps are also an issue, on pretty much all bmw's though
