OEM BMW Star Spoke Style 210 wheels on 2012 Sport Activity

Hey all,

I am about to pick up a set of OEM BMW Star Spoke Style 210 rims to use as my winter wheels. I have seen many 2008-2010 Pre LCI X5s with these wheels but would appreciate if you members could chime in to confirm if the following wheel combo will fit my 2012 X5 35i Sport Activity?

Wheel type: OEM Style 210
Bolt pattern: 5x120
Size: 18 x 8.5
Offset: 45
Tires: Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V1 255/55R18 as recommended by tirerack.com

Thanks in advance!

I have 210's as my winter set on my 2009 X5 48i. I hate the look, but I don't trust the 20's on snow and ice. Hope this helps.

Hey AwesomeM3,

Thanks for chiming in with the pics, really does help solidify my assertion that the 18 inch style 210s will fit my car fine. I too don't trust my stock 20s on the snow & ice! Do you use the same set of lug nuts for both wheels?

Yes, same set of lug nuts/wheel locks.

Hey Awesome,

Can you take a pic from the side of the car to show how narrow the smaller wheels look against the flared fenders? Thanks very much!

The look isn't great, but it's functional. You could use spacers; I didn't.

I know this isn't exactly answering your question, but I powdercoated the 210's black and I like the look on my '08 4.8 for the winter

Thanks for the pic dansingh, I'm totally thinking of doing the same to the Style 210 wheels once I get them! How much did the power coating cost if you don't mind me asking?

$55 a wheel. Reliable powder coating in Downey.

That's a very reasonable cost! And it looks great.
Are there two streaks on your rear rim? Or is it just a stain?

Thanks for the pic! I picked up a set of 209's this past wknd and the seller did warn me that the flares will stick out by about 3", which looks right based on your pic. I had the opportunity to buy his spacers too but chose not do, based on the negative things I've read about them. Oh well, better to have an ugly car than broken studs/wheel bearings.

I agree with you on the spacers. I'd rather have a functional X5 rather than possible warranty problems by using spacers.

! How can you blame the spacers, you will be shunned from the society and be cursed upon. But yeah, I totally agree with you, no matter what anyone says, I just don't trust them. One can claim he has been running them forever without problems, the moment we put ours on, something will just fall apart. Also, the spacers do not really make the X5 look any better, it is the wider rims that give it a good look.

Dansingh and AwesomeM3,
Can you post a picture from the rear? I just want to see how your ride looks with narrow tires and flares.

I don't have my winter set on yet. My pictures in this thread were taken last year. I'll probably switch to my winter set in a few weeks; I'll try to remember to post some pics. Just so you know, the 18's look much narrower from the rear than the 20's. It looks terrible, IMO.

I can guess.. Our X5 will come with 19x9, I am hoping that it will be a balance between snow/winter grip and summer good looks.. Otherwise, that would mean I need to get 8"s for winter and 11"s for summer.. ugh

I will post a photo from the rear when I get home. Its not pretty when you switch out the 315's for the 255's.

As for the streaks in the rims thats just the photo and the way the light is hitting it. There are no streaks in the rims. The place I went to did a great job and was referred to from a friend that has several sets pc'd there. Reliable also does powdercoating for the BMW and Porsche dealer near them.

Here are some pics. Sorry lighting was bad and I didn't have much space in the garage to take better pics.

Hard to tell but honestly it doesn't look as bad as I thought

yeah. from most angles its not that bad. I think the worst angle is from a 3/4 or 1/4 view or whatever you would like to call it from behind the car with a little distance. I'll see if I can snap a pic the next time I take the car out. For me though I think the black rims give it that aggressive look, that people wont question the funny looking gap (from a certain wrong angle).

That doesn't look bad at all. Yes, it's not ideal compared to the 315s but I'll take the performance of the snow tires over looks during a blizzard.

Hey ottotruck, I ended going with Style 209 wheels on my 2012 sport Activity so ignore my pm as I meant to say Style 209 wheels instead of 210. But on another note, the Style 210 will definitely fit our 2012s...
