Potential x5m. Too many issues?
Found a well optioned 2013 x5m not too far from me. Service history seems a little concerning though. Does this seem like an excessive amount of issues? The car is cpo so issues would still be covered by the dealership, but who wants to buy a car for it to just sit at the dealership?
Thoughts?

Haha...that's NOTHING compared to mine. It damn near lived at two different BMW dealerships in Oregon before I bought it. Honestly though, I took it as a relief that it was there and getting fixed with updated and upgraded parts that BMW has addressed over the years, so since then it's been fine. My last major failure was last year when I had some injectors fail, but BMW has finally fixed that as well. Just make sure all the recalls have been done then negotiate away.

Wrong. CPO does not mean issues would be covered by the dealership. There are many instances on this form whereby the CPO warranty did not provide the same coverage as the original factory warranty. Know in advance what is and isn't covered.

Just an FYI-the salesperson won't know. If they say CPO provides the same coverage as the original warranty, have them put that in writing. If they won't, it's not true.

Looking at another X5M now. It's a 2012 with ~46K miles. Just had a PPI done yesterday, and the report came back mentioning two problems that I haven't seen people mention before. Not sure if the dealership is just trying to pull a fast one and make some money. Current owner claims no signs of leaking oil ever. And no cooling problems ever.
Here are the two issues for which they quoted around $5k to repair. Is this a disaster waiting to happen? 1) Oil Pan Gasket: *EST UPPER AND LOWER OIL PAN GASKETS, BOLTS, OIL LEVEL SENSOR SEAL, OIL COOLER LINE ORINGS AT ENGINE, FULL OIL CHANGE. 2) Charge Air Coolant Pump: *EST 02 Auxiliary water pump 1 11517584088 , 17 Auxiliary water pump 1 11517566335 WITH ATTACHING CLAMPS, 1 GALLON OF COOLANT.

Those sound plausible...I've got a small oil leak somewhere that I haven't fully looked into and I've replaced that same pump because the blades are typical BMW plastic vs being metal.

It's a BMW, not a Honda...sadly they're no longer known for reliability. I'd say the pump is more important since it cools your turbos vs a leak that's just annoying, assuming it's not terrible.

How difficult was the pump to replace? Looking at the schematics the lower oil pan shouldn't be terrible but the upper looks aweful since the drive shaft runs through that portion of the pan. You'll have to pull the axles, differential, and drop the subframe.

thanks for the feedback by the way. I made a revised deal with the seller based on the inspection, so should be joining the club soon.

I get terrible service where I'm at right now. It's a single pump for the turbos, not the fuel pumps for the engine itself. It's a little guy that'll fit in the palm of your hands, costs around $80, sits just behind the passenger intercooler.

Dealers quote $3.8k for the upper oil pan replacement here in California. Let us know if you find out what independent repair shops quote for the job...

The CPO does not just transfer, it is very costly. I bought mine from a chevy dealership and was told it was a CPO and had the oil cooler lines going to the turbos start leaking. Brought it in CPO was voided when I bought it from the Chevy dealership. $5k out of pocket..
