What was the Canadian MSRP sticker price and did the dealer add a "mark up" to the MSRP? If you don't mind me asking, what was your final cost not including taxes, registration, etc.?

I'm curious because of the two dealer that had X6 M's on their floor, one was selling for MSRP and the other added some minor stuff plus a $10,000 USD mark up.

I admit I like a throaty V8 but would never pick a vehicle because of a noise it makes. After my last car (CLK63 Black) I am becoming less enamored with all that. The thing would alert everyone within a mile that you were on the way. Too much like a Harley mentality for me.
Personally the sound of a vehicle makes a HUGE difference for me. You will be hearing your car every single second you're driving it... and if the exhaust note is really bad... psychologically you're going to start to dislike your car over time (this is purely IMO).

I almost didn't buy my e46 M3 just cause it sounded soooo sh1tty (needless to say... a full supersprint race exhaust system - headers to muffler was put in)

I don't need to have my car LOUD per say...but I want an extremely good sounding exhaust note.

G35/350Z, Toyota Supra, Ferrari 360, WRX STi, Gallardo, Audi RS4 are all some good examples of a exhaust note that is inspiring, different, and somewhat exotic sounding.

Ironically... the car you mentioned... CLK63 Black sounds like such a raspy V8 i don't think I'd buy a car just cause it doesn't have that deep throaty roar of a traditional V8.

Can someone point out what this "power package" is? I can't find it when I'm configuring a X6 5.0.

Thanks in advance.

With the "power package" u'll have an extra 40Hp..
I don t think that an M version can be compared with a normal one... And is not just the difference of power, there are way too many good things in an M

Raspy V8? You don't know what you're talking about.

Didn't you own a CLK63 Black? Is the same one that Jeremie drives on Top Gear?

I own a couple of early 1970's vintage american muscle cars so I'm curious about the comparison.

Yes I had one from November 2007 to July 2009. The thing was a beast but I had to make a decision whether to keep it or my GTR. I opted to give up the Mercedes because it couldn't be driven 5 months a year up here in the frozen wasteland of ND and it had an automatic. It did have an amazing V8 exhaust note.

Just watched a couple of youtube vids on the Black and it sounds totally awesome. Not quite the same as an unrestrained throaty roar of American muscle, bit more restrained which more than likely has to do catalytic converters and such.

What are you smoking ?

Extra 155hp over the standard 50i and 115hp over the performance 50i.

The X6 M is 555hp and 500lbft torque!

Stop saying that folks are into nameplates?

So as per your philosophy, people should then just get the 335i with a tune or some sort of performance upgrade!
M3's are just poser mobiles! What BS, M3 is a different kind of animal just as the X6 M is over their respective standard cars!

Indeed, there is a growl with the 50i, but a mean burble with throttle lift the X6 M. They Just sound different.

Speaking of burble and shmirble, anyone knows any great sounding exhaust for the X6 M? like Miestershaft, or something? Sorry Im new to this forum and forums in general.

I spent the last week driving and listening to the M and the 5.0. I have to say the X6M did not seem to drive to its specs - but that was probably because it was cold outside, the car was cold and not broken in, and I had driven to the dealer in a p-car.

Since I planned to lease, and the lease numbers on the X6M are horrible (way low residuals) I opted for the 5.0.

There is no "Power package" option when ordering in the US. I am hoping for dinan to do something.

DrEvil, there is a "performance upgrade" available on US X6's (35i and 50i) it adds 40hp to the 50i and 20hp to the 35i. You need to get the Sport Package or Sport Activity Package to order the performance upgrade (7RR).

Check with your dealer, you still might be able to add it. Also, it does not show up on the BMW web site configurator.

Once again saved by bimmerpost. Thanks to everyone. I emailed my salesrep literally 10 minutes ago (sunday) and he confirmed that the power upgrade option is real and has added it to my build order:

""Did some checking and yes it does add 40hp and .2 off of 0-60. It is changed. Mike

Subject: bmw optional package

Mike,

On some websites I have been told that there is a “power option”:

There's going to be a new option package for 2010 X6 models called the "Performance Upgrade" (option code: 7RR). It needs, but is not required, to be combined with the ZSP sports package. It adds about 40hp to the car out of the factory.

Costs: $1500

Is this true? If so I would like it.

Bruce""

I have ordered the car. The computer would not accept the performance upgrade order without the sports package. On the dealer order forms, BMW states that the sport package is REQUIRED. In theory, it shouldn't matter if you have the sports package. However, BMW gets its cake and eat it too. If you want the extra power, pony up $1500 for the upgrade, but don't forget the mandatory $4100 sports package for a grand total of $5600. For those not interested in the sports package, the deal is no longer cheap now is it?

good point. For me, after driving the X6M with the adaptive suspension, I had to have it, too. Since sport comes with wheels, trim, headliner and suspension, it seemed reasonable.

Very true. But you are also able to get it with the much less expensive Sport Activity Package ($1900 on the 35i and $1400 on the 50i) So in realty, if you weren't planning on getting either of the sport packages, the grand total with the performance upgrade would be $3400 (35i) or $3000 (50i).

I may be wrong and hate to be contrary, but according to the dealer forms that were shown to me, this was available only for the sports package, and not the sport activity package. If I hadn't seen the sheets from BMW and had they not tried to place the order and fail with only the sports activity package at first, I would have agreed with you.

I never saw the option at all until it was pointed out to me on this forum. When you go through the build configurator on bmwusa.com, the power option is only there as a footnote.

jfewins, I think you should talk to your dealer.
