X6 Order Status
Hey Guys,
I placed an order for an X6 over a month ago. The dealer seems to be telling me that I have an allocation but can't give me a production number or VIN for the car. They printed out a Vehicle Inquiry Report and order status states: 047 Spec. released-no. Any idea where this is on the process... my current 330 lease is up in 45 days and no one there seems to be able to tell me where it's at except that I will definitely have one. Any help appreciated!! Stefan |

Im not sure if the status numbers have changed or not but I found this over on e90post.com
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9224 looks like your status could be comparable to status 151 on that link?

That seems strange. Mine prod number was printed up the moment I ordered it and I was given the number on a copy of the order sheet. When I checked it though on the owners circle it kept coming up a different color. I thought for a while that the dealer was playing games when they told me it had been moved back two weeks. I complained and then all of a sudden it was my color and my order was back on schedule. Coincedience? I could not get the vin either on the phone or thru dealer till about 2 weeks prior to production. Mine was built last Friday now just waitng for transport. Tell'em give to give you the number or it's just BS. Cheap

I tried getting a production number from them and they just said it would have the wrong configuration as they had been swapping things. They assured me they would give me the VIN as soon as it was available. Sounds like the same situation as you were in but they won't give me that number.
What's worrying me is the inquiry report status of 047... and no further info. |

You get a production # as soon as the order is placed. Stay on your dealer to make sure its exactly what you want!

BMWMC is correct - I got a production number as soon as my order was placed, and that was back in March before they were even producing them. The BMWUSA owner's website incorrectly showed it as an M3 for some reason, but all of the packages I ordered were correct, and of course it did finally get produced. It showed a VIN number eventually on the site, about 2 weeks before I got delivery. I'm enjoying it more every day.

I've been traveling (flying) like crazy over the last 3 weeks, so still haven't put as many miles on the vehicle as normal. I only have about 150 miles on it so far, and according to the computer, the mileage is pretty anemic - averaging around 14 miles to the gallon. I'm certainly hoping that the mileage improves after it's broken in .
The look gets a favorable response from most, but it's still somewhat polarizing. My boss, who drives an M6 among other vehicles, hates it. But most of my co-workers, who drive everything from Mercedes CLS to 'vettes like the look. What I like the most - still the look. It's unique and relatively functional. I like the looks of a coupe, but I really like sitting up high. Drive is still great - plenty of acceleration and rides like a BMW. Not too squishy, but not overly harsh. What I like the least - the rear camera. Compared to my Infiniti, it's woefully inadequate. The view is somewhat distorted and not nearly as clear, broad or sharp. Also the beeping from the sensors when you're backing up is annoying, and I fllip the switch off almost immediately. |
