Any word of when/if X5/X6 could get the 8 speed transmission?
In reading about the 8 speed transmission in the 5 series Gran Turismo, it is really a super nice piece of engineering. I especially like the wet clutch arraingement and the possibilities this offers for performance use. The 6 speed is going to be phased out, with reported last production in 2014. It is the exact same dimensions as the 8 speed, so it would bolt right into the X6 or X5. There is also the availability of another 47 HP electric motor integrated into the transmission. I believe the hybrid version will be using this feature.
