Clicking noise from driver side dashboard
With my X6 50, I've recently been having "clicking" noises from the dash, under the windshield. Not sure if it is plastics expanding or something. Happens since it got really cold here. Sometimes goes away (as car warms up?), sometimes lasts longer.
Any thoughts? |

Aw thats annoying, I hate rattles and having gone over a rather LARGE pot hole a few weeks ago I now seem to have one inside the dash, it appears to be coming from behind the sat nav GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

I had the exact same thing on my first X6. I would hear it most often when the car was cold and it would sometimes disappear as the car warmed up....strangely though it often returned even when the car had warmed up. I took it to the dealer a few times and they tried to fix it by putting felt tape in certain areas but it never cured it. The last time I went back they said that they would have to remove the dash to try to find the problem, but I wouldn't trust them to do this. I think they would have created more rattles than they would cure.
Not the best advice, but I simply increased the volume on the stereo....only way that I could resolve the problem. I took delivery of my second X6 in October and thankfully there is no clicking from that...touch wood. |

BMW know the problem.
They did fix it on mine. Not sure what they did but they fixed it. Talk to your dealer and tell them that its an known problem.

Thanks guys. Tomorrow the X6 goes in to have one of the air circulation fans replaced because it makes a whining noise (bearings gone). So they will get in the dash to do this, I suspect. Thus they can deal with this clicking too.
Will post progress/update. |

ive had mine in for noises twice, its fixed for two days then comes back. i have a LOT of noise coming from the rear hatch i think its just because its such an open space inside and the chassi bends a lot. i also have the noise that you're describing. still not acceptable but it happens. it drives me crazy but i've gotten used to it, a little. its sad how the quality of bmw's is today.
this post wasn't meant to help but at least you know you're not the only one |

Update
Took it in for another amazing service appointment. Issue identified by them too. Parts on back-order.
It seems like the issue is a clearly understood one and that there is a known remedy. We'll see. |

My car has been in the dealer for almost a week due to some weird "whistling noise" around 2000 rpm. They have not even found the cause yet......... |
