TT V8 X6-High Speed/WOT Runs-CAUGHT

Hey guys, finally caught a couple of TT V8's out on the PC track.Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good!!!I rigged up a little wind noise baffle today for my camera.I said what the hay,I'll go stand at the place I shoot from at the PC.The wind was still blowing 35-40 MPH,a real world test.I had planned on shooting test vids, having no idea cars would be on the track on a Sunday afternoon.Well,I top the berm that I stand on and there are two X6's tearing up the track. They even pulled out a Deep Sea Blue V8 I've not seen prior to today. There is still some wind noise, but MUCH MUCH better than previous windy day vids. The clicking is the auto focus on my camera.I can say: Turn UP THE VOLUME and enjoy those big TT V8's booming around the track!!!!Be sure and watch all 4 vids they are all pretty good! Thanks. PalBay

Good sleuthing, 00Palbay! That's a nice throaty V8 sound, considering it has to make its way through a turbo.

"Damn!" That would have been your kid, right?

I appreciate the kind words.Sometimes its better to be lucky than good! I never would have thought the engineers would be out on a Sunday afternoon.Makes me believe they are trying to hurry up and get the bugs worked out of that TTV8.Not only for the X6 but any of the other models it might end up in.Thanks. The exhaust note sounded so mean! I wish my M3 sounded as deep as that.

I saw an x6 driving around in Jericho, Long Island, New York this weekend. It was within a mile from Rallye BMW. No markings and it was all taped up

The important thing is not just the raw numbers, but the fact that that 450 lb-ft of torque is available from 1,700 rpm on. My X5 has 400 HP -- it is a 4.4i with supercharger -- and it probably has similar torque to the TTV8, but I don't get that torque until way up in the rev range. At sea level, my X5 turns 5.9 second 0-60 times (according to ESS, the supercharger people -- I haven't measured it), but the X6 is rated at 5.3 seconds by BMW. I live 4,000 feet above sea level, so in practice a turbocharged engine will produce quite a lot more power than a supercharged one. And I expect it will get at least 5 mpg better gas mileage.

AND it sure sounds good!
