My dealer is telling me that the 2012 will have an 8 speed. That's a dealer talking but I would be very happy to have the 8 spd for our diesel.

As production nears (next week?) it is looking like the '12 model will carry the 6AT forward. It doesn't seem like there are any powertrain changes. That's a bummer.

ya now I'm looking towards the 2012 ML350, I hated it at first but I gotta say the improved tech and design has grown on me. disappointed on the X5 b/c of no changes

I'm at a loss to understand why you guys thought that there would be any transmission changes to the diesel. BMW released info back in July as to what was coming in September.

At a loss? That seems a bit over the top. Anyway, I am curious to why the delay then? If it was the same as the 2011, why the delay? That is what I am in a loss over (tongue in cheek).
