Foam wash, does it really works?

I was checking on some you tube videos of foam washing in order to understand the benefits and still don't get it, anyone here has foam washed a car?

works 100%

Works 100%! drags the dirt down.. and keeps you from dragging the dirt around the surface with a sponge.. I love mine!

That means that you don't have to use a sponge anymore? Dirt comes off after the foam is applied?
Can you give a link or the name of the best brand ?
Thanks
Bernie

When you say foam wash you mean with a foam gun? Can you post a video and I can see what you're talking about?

I use the Foamaster I foam gun with the two bucket method. I do use a sponge (microfiber wash mitts), wash top down, etc. I do this in stages with a rinse first, then foam wash, then mitts, and then drying. I followed the YouTube videos from member "junkman2000" and am very happy with the results I get. My technique has improved as well, as I never washed my own car before I got the X6M.

I think we are talking about the same procedure.
I do have some back problems (I wash my car every weekend) and thought that foam wash will much things easier for my back in terms of not having to bend myself too much (I'm also 6'4) but it seems like there is no magic on foam washing as I call it......

This is what I saw on YouTube

Final question: where is the real gain of foam-washing if you have to wash it previous to use the foam? looks to me as double duty ?

Thanks for taking your time replying!

Looks pretty similar. I don't think you wash the car before doing the foam, you rinse it (to get loose dirt off of it). It's just a quick spray. I also rinse my car often during a wash to make sure water doesn't dry on it, causing spots. I am getting better at this but not perfect

I am no expert, just got into this in January when I got the X6M.

My understanding is like this:

1. You rinse the car to get loose dirt off
2. Foam spray the car and the foam bonds with the heavier dirt
3. Use your microfiber wash mitt to wipe down the dirt along with the really tough dirt that needs some help to come off
4. Rinse and dry

The idea is that when you're scrubbing the car with your mitt, the dirt will be as loose as possible and just come off, and not be dragged along your paint causing damage and scratches to the clearcoat. The entire idea in general is to get most of the dirt lifted without heavy scrubbing of the paint.

The Junkman2000 videos are excellent at explaining this, better than I am, and they take it further than the video above by isolating dirty water from clean water (2 buckets with "grit guards", plastic mesh inserts which keep dirt from flowing around in the water and keep it at the bottom of the bucket) and washing the car top-down since water/dirt will flow from the top anyway and this makes logical sense and keeps you from recirculating dirt all over the car while washing it.
