Finally the tank filled with the Costco gas is running low now. New Mobil gas definitely made a difference. I can now feel the turbo pull. I think must be the ethanol content...

Ethanol is the devil and Obama plays into its Congress-lobbying propaganda. It raises the cost of everything (food, the food we feed to meat, etc.), lowers our MPG, and damages our engine components. What a joke.

"I forced myself to drive all over LA today, from 71 to 60 to 10 to 405 to 105 to 91. Traffic sucks! Used up about half of a tank and filled it up right away with Mobil gas."

LOL this reminds me of "The Californians" on SNL...

Exclamation Costco "Premium" Gas is Bad

After experimenting for several months, I found that after every time I get Costco premium gas (91 octane), I immediately have performance issues.

My car was running perfectly today until I filled up with Costco gas. I had 20mi until empty, I filled up, jumped on the freeway a few miles away, got on the gas, and the power was not there and the car started to putter and would barely accelerate. This has happened to me about 10 times now and only after I get gas from Costco. If I get gas from anywhere else, like BP or Mobile, my car runs fine.

It is without doubt true that Costco premium gas can give you performance problems. If you drive a BMW with a high performance engine (I have a N54), do not get Costco gas. Pay the extra and get good gas from elsewhere.

At the shop I was at, we had a rash of BMW customers coming in with failed fuel pumps (one customer had multiple failures), took a month or so to make the correlation but turns out they all exclusively filled up at Costco. Avoid Costco gas, there is a reason it's the cheapest around.

But, I do have to say, to Costco's credit... they paid all the bills once we had brought it to their attention along with a fuel sample analysis.

+1 for Costco gas not being an issue...
