If I can't even fit my Sony 46" Bravia in my parent's Lexus 350, I doubt it will fit in the 1. But who knows...

If you could get fold down rear seats with an is250/is350 then I bet the TV would fit - it makes a big difference.

I stuff a mountain bike in the trunk of my 1'er a few times a week by simply folding down the rear seats and taking off the front tire. There's plenty of room to spare and with the tire off the bike it is still several inches longer and taller than an unpacked 46" TV.

The only way I could see it not fitting is if the TV came in some absurdly large box.

Word; laying down a LCD or Plasma is a terrible idea! Why risk your purchase? Either rent a truck/van or borrow a friends SUV....that's what I ended up doing with mine.

I've been told that LCD's and Plasma Tv's need to be kept upright at all times... so be careful in transportation

Just an FYI, LCD can be laid flat without issue. Plasma, however, should never be laid on it's back.

If you can get a 46" LCD in the 1, we need pics for proof!

Buy it from Amazon. I bought my 52 from there and saved $1000.00, plus free delivery and no tax. Best buy is a rip if your buying a Computers, Apps, and electronics. I just go there to view items and buy small stuff like DVDs.

I carried a 36" wide x 48"tall x 12" deep control enclosure in my 135i last month It squeaked in, but fit! Much more enjoyable drive to Macon, GA than in the company pickup! I would say that was probably the limit the car could have held.

Actually, I'm pretty sure they only make the X6 to make the M Coupe look good.

It will absolutely not work without taking it out of the box... I just went through this exact purchase a couple of months ago. The boxes that these are in are huge! Don't risk it, borrow an SUV from a friend or relative. I showed up with my 1 and triedto make it work before realizing there was just no way, even with seats down. It's the dimension from the lip of the trunk to the top of the lid that wont allow it to go in.

LOL
only 46"

I would go for the 52" and the prices are dropping very fast. March April is when new models start to be talked about, so my guess items over $500 will drop so fast... they have to get rid of inventory! I bet by march we will se 52" top of the line Sony going for $1200 CAD... so about 1k USD.

As for transport tricks...

A very good one...

Find something big you need to get a Home depot. Rent the van, and stop off at best buy and get your tv. 2 birds 1 van! Those of you who need a snowblower... or just a big shovel. I do not think they can tell you to put the shovel in your car... just tell them you own a B M W! and the interior scratches just on looking too hard, or even just talking about it. Damn you just scratched my car!

Those vans are huge, you could fit in 7 x 52"... Remember Home Depot has like a time limit, so you have to have all your ducks lined up be4 you go shooting...

EspressoBoy

ROFL so did you get the tv hooked up in your car? Hay on a 09 you can watch DVD's if you have idrive, maybe you can connect the hdmi to it? How did it go? BTW by buying something at Home Depot you are not breaking their rules.
