car sagging on driver rear side / bad gaskets
I have a 2007 4.8i that is sagging on the drivers rear side. It lifts back up after driving for a few minutes. It sits in the garage every night and sometimes sags and sometimes it doesn't. If this is an air bag leak, wouldn't it sag every time at the same rate? Mechanic wants to replace air bag for $495.
I'm a new BMW owner and have had this vehicle for about 3 months and I'm already having issues. Is this a bad year/engine to own? Took it to BMW for an oil change and they told me that the left valve cover and upper timing chain cover gaskets are leaking oil and want to fix for $1165. Drove it to my mechanic and he said that it's fine. Are these cars plagued with problems? Considering selling asap. |

The bags are a simple fix, almost a DIY job if you have the tools. The replacement bags from arnott, have a lifetime warranty. They are rubber, it'll get a tear eventually. Think of it as a normal replacement item.
As for leaky valve covers, this applies to ALL cars. It's not BMW specific. I've had to do this on honda's, Dodge, Subaru, and recently a warranty repair on my X5 a couple months ago. At your age, again, it's a normal maintenance item. |
