Ski bag

I have a question. I purchased a CPO 2011 Premium with the Technology and Cold Weather package. All the literature says that the ski bag was a part of the Cold Weather package, but I don't have one. I have the heated seats, heated steering wheel, 4 zone climate control and the headlight washers, but no ski bag.

Now ours is a early build 2011 (June 2010 in-service date), so I wonder if the ski bag wasn't available early on.

Anyone have any thoughts?

As far as I know, the ski bag is an extra cost item...

It is included. It should be inside the rear seat pass-through that pops out.

That's the thing though, according to the manual, once you lower the armrest, ther should be a button you press and it will expose the opening. There is nothing. When you look at the back of the second row seats from the cargo area you should see the opening. The door for the opening. There is none. Just the two seats.

Again, to be clear, this is not a question of IF I have the ski bag. I know that I do not. The window sticker has the cold weather package listed along with the heated steering wheel, 4 zone climate control and headlight washers. It does NOT list the ski bag. Yet all the sales literature I have seen for the 2011 model year says that the ski bag comes with that package. Last night I downloaded a sales brochure and it said the same.

Now maybe because our vehicle was an early build '11 I'm thinking it was added later. I know that the option packages have changed because for the 2012 model year the cold weather package includes heated rear seats, but that was not the case in 2011.

That's weird, but not surprising. I was going off my 2012. I know they changed up the options lists and packages a bunch from MY 2011 to MY 2012, so that would explain it, but it still seems like an odd thing to leave out of the cold weather package at any point on a "sports activity vehicle".

When you lower the middle part in your back seat, there's a handle to remove a plastic separator.
This thing opens, and there's your ski bag !

I've seen many MY2012 with the ski bag still part of the Cold Weather Package here...

It looks like BMW missed it during the build. They did the same thing on the early model X6 M-Sports with the exhaust and a few other models as well so they can "mess up". did you buy yours new or used? if new, go back to the dealer. If used, you are SOL

It Should have it! if you got a CPO that didn't have one like me, it's because the previous owner didn't return it. Since they advertised it, go back to BMW and demand one. They will give you the run around but should honor it. I managed to get one replaced for free. it would have costed over $730. Stupid..

There is no ski bag guys, nor is there even an opening in the seatback for it. Like I said, I have the original window sticker. It lists a Cold Weather package, and underneath is listed the heated steering wheel, 4 zone climate control, and the headlight washers, but no ski bag.

This isn't a case of the previous owner forgetting to include it.

I never even knew that I had a ski bag until I read this post. I thought that piece just came out to put your ski's through the opening. I didn't know that it actually opened up and held a bag in there. lol

I have an '11 and thought the same thing. I have the 4 zone climate and the cold weather package. No ski bag. Picked it up at the factory. I forgot about it after a while, but now I'm thinking about going back to the dealer.

If the package description on the window sticker does not list it then it was not included. Why do you want one so bad anyway? Go enjoy your awesome X5!

It's not the bag specifically that I wish I had, but the opening. My boys play hockey (goalies) and the pass through helps with carrying their sticks around as opposed to having them lean on the back of the rear seat.

With a hockey bags, goalie pads and the sticks, the pass through would just make carrying the gear a bit easier. It's just a compromise in buying a used car. We got every feature we wanted including colors, with the exception of the pass thru. If I had bought new I would have gotten it.

It is what it is.

It's just part of the seat, maybe possible to do a retrofit w/ a salvage yard part from a donor X5.
If it'd be that useful, could be a way to have it.

Even better if you'd be able to find the right leather and color, but if not, a good upholstery shop could do the swap.
