Technical Information System. set of cd/dvds that run on windows box that describe the procedure for diagnosing and the steps to repair any problem on BMWS. It's what the dealers have to look at when they need to take something apart.

It has interactive symptom and resolution kind of of info , sometimes including pics. You can pick it up on Ebay for many BMW models.

This is a good thing to have. Could you give me an idea of the cost of the cables required to connect my PC to the CAR assuming i get this software? And of course where to buy it from?

I have never used the cables or connected to any of my cars, just used the procedures mainly on how to remove and replace things. last time I bought it on Ebay.

well looks like it's available online. I tried 24 hour subscription( $30) , looked up the procedure for replacing the bottom grill as it looks like I am going to do this for radar project. It's mediocre doesn't seem as complete as old pc based version but it's something. little pricey: 24 hour subscription $30, month $250, year $2500.
has service bulletins also.

No Kidding - it wouldn't work with firefox, but man look at this:

Quote:
Minimum System Requirements
IE: Windows 95 on a 486 with 66 megahertz processor (Pentium processor recommended)

Netscape: Windows 95 on a Pentium 233 with 64 megs of RAM.
ROFLOL Win 95 and a 486 - I have to dig though my basement to see if I still have that old POS.

I wiki'd it as a reality check and stumbled across this 1989 cover of Byte - talk about a walk down memory lane! I'm sure if looked hard enough I could find my old copy.
