E70 front lowering spring install help
Hello all,
I am trying to install my H&R lowering springs on my 2011 x5. I can seam to get the front strut to drop off the keeper clam that attaches to the strut and the lower control arm. I can get it to move but not near enough to drop off. Is there a DIY from strut replacement I can read that anyone knows of? I have the sway bar disconnected, and still cannot get the control arm to drop off enough to release the strut. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks Jared |

I did the spring install a few weeks ago and it can be done. You really need two people to make it easier on yourself. One person who can pry the suspension downward, I usually use the arm of my floor jack. Meanwhile the other person pulls down the clamp off the strut. It will be tight but it's doable.
You removed the bolt mounting the clamp to the lower arm right? |

How about non-self leveling rear spring install? Looks like I only need to unbolt the strut from control arm and pull downward. Any experience with this? |

Yup. Rear spring is pretty straight forward. I used a combination of pry bars to get the spring out while another person was pulling down on the suspension. One thing to note is that the rear spring seats into a top hat that twists out from the frame so just keep that in mind when pulling it out.
