Even if it will better than the X6, doubt will be better to drive. Actually quite sure.

That blobby roofline bulge over the back seat kills the lines.
As depicted here, the car needs some serious smoothening but could be really cool-looking if they get it right.

That said, the original design concept sketches (like the paper napkin stage) must've been MUCH nicer. The design committee (same one that designed the new 4dr porsche?) needs to realize that a niche vehicle like this can sacrifice a little more function for the sake of form. People-haulers buy an ML.

I've had several passengers whack their heads on the roof when getting into the back seat, but they seem to learn fast enough (pain and embarrassment are great motivators for change).

Heck, *I* whack my head on the roof when I get into my car (and I'm only 5'4"!); I didn't on either of my X5s. Would I go back? Heck no.

That 'learning fast enough' part isn't working so well for me though. I just put up with it. I think that having to clear the raised edge of the comfort seats has something to do with it. My office mate who rides in my car for lunch every day does it too. She hasn't said anything about it since the first day though -- she likes the X6 better too .

I came from Mercedes to BMW by buying my X6. If the MLC is good (and I like the new stylig that is appearing in their range of vehicles) then I think that I will be going back to the 3 pointed star. I like my X6 but I liked the Mercedes experience better.

yeah, I think the new Mercedeses (?) with harder lines and angles look a lot less feminine. Pretty nice, especially from the front view. The only part I don't like is the cheezy connect-the-dot LED strips they're using now. Never liked them on the audis, always seemed a little pep-boys v. fast/furious to me, kinda like something I would've REEEEALY wanted to slap on my Integra back in high school. MB really gotta come up with something a little more distinctive and classy.

That said, I still think the X5/X6s are still the best-looking SUVs around. And the Z4 is still the best-looking car by either manufacturer in my opinion.
