2nd car- reliable DD?

Hey everyone. just wanted a few opinions from others who might have experience with other makes.
I've been considering a couple of other cars to make my DD. I'm looking for reliability lasting into high miles and even perhaps dealer maintenance experience.
I'm looking at the infiniti g37 bc infiniti offers great service even out of warranty on their cars and I've had 2 so far with no major problems. Another car I'm debating over is the mercedes c300/350. My only concern is they don't seem to hold value...why is it that a 2010 is under 20k? Also, does anyone know about their reliability and even dealer experiences?
Any suggestions or opinions welcome....as this will just be a work horse DD for me.

Thanks everyone!

Avoid the Mercs like the plague, their repairs make N54 guys feel better.

The only issue with the g37 for DD is sub par gas mileage. But if your looking for something with a little sport, luxury, reliability and value, you can't beat it.

Id just get a cheap jetta lease if I were you. Ditch it in 2-3 years . They are practically giving them away. Would avoid the merc for repair bills and nissan for quality.

Why not drive your 335 daily.

To answer your question:
Skip the merc. NA VW could be a good option, G37 is good, but I found it slow and heavy for around town driving every day. Manual gearbox is horrible on it too. What about a NA I-6 BMW, like a 128i/330i? NA Subarus are rock solid as well.

I'm confused... Why would you want a midsize luxury/performance sedan (your 335i), and then want to park it, and buy another midsize luxury sedan for daily driving?

1-Daily drive your car, and if you need/want, buy a fun "weekend" car... (Something 2-door, possibly convertible comes to mind...)
or
2-Buy a nicer car that you'll want to drive every day...

I've never understood why someone would own a nice car, and then decide not to drive it...

I bought my M and intended it for a weekend car as i have a Toyota Camry............but.......somehow i just dont have that disciple to leave the M till the weekend
Gas mileage is killing me with the M, but I cant let it go.

Well, At least I'm sure the Camry will be driven during winter.
SO instead if weekend/ weekday, might as well make it Summer/ winter..LOL

A 335 is a daily driver. 2nd vehicles are a must - I have a truck for snow, hauling stuff and towing the wakeboat.

rule #1: drive the BEST car you can as a daily driver

your everyday is more important than your once-in-a-while. live for today.

drive your 335. spend the extra money on extra maintenance and service.

Well. Just a little back story to my insanity....lol

Strange as it is, I treat my bimmer as my weekend car. The trip to work is 75 miles round trip and so my intention was to keep my bimmer with low miles in case down the road when I sell it it will still have some decent resale value.

I've always had a second car to drive back and forth to work. I enjoy breaking out my toy when the weather is nice. Besides. It's a coupe, slammed, manual, and heavily tuned.... In stop and go traffic, terrible down town roads, co workers stolen cars, or broken into....it is nice to take a break and drive an automatic and not worrying about avoiding potholes/bumps and take every entrance at a slow angle so I don't scrape..... I'm sure if I only drove the bimmer as my DD for the past 4 years It would have well close to (actually doing the math....approx 110k) .... But instead my '10 just hit 50k miles... And still running as if it were brand new!

Anyway. I guess back to the topic.... I wonder if I'm the only one who is OCD about this?
I currently have an 05 Infiniti FX45. Great car so far. Couldn't be happier. Taking it into service is even pleasant as they give me a loaner car even for a standard oil change EVEN OUT OF WARRANTY. Only downside is the gas mileage sux...should have known better with a v8. I figured if I get something smaller it would be better...but my taste is always luxury.

Definitely going to avoid the mercs. Audi is a no go since my brother had a nightmare dealing with repairs once it got close to 100k.

Infiniti dealer really has me swayed.... Loaner car with oil change....I don't have to replenish the gas and they don't charge me for tollway tags. I even kept it over Sunday to make a long weekend out of the loaner... My bmw dealer certainly isn't that generous. Any other brands offer sweet service perks? Audi apparently gives you a loaner exactly what you turn in for service....but don't know if they hand them out after warranty.

Thanks everyone for the opinions! I will keep them all in mind. I'm glad everyone steered me away from the mercs bc I was set up to go check one out this weekend.

Buy an s2000. I dd my m3 and haven't driven a 99 Toyota I have that is parked on the street unless I know the weather is really bad .

Life is too short to drive a boring car.

S2000 is reliable and a fun back up. I'm currently shopping for one myself.

My experience with Mercedes (1998 C230, 2002 C240) is they are awesome cars. They probably work best over 75 or 80 mph, a little bit sloppy at low spreed. Never had one of my cars strand me with 18 years of total ownership.

Got a brand new g37s. They are okay, they are not the same as a MB or BMW, speaking of the interior and exterior too, some what... But engine wise, they are great.

Lexus...

For a DD/winter car have you considered just leasing something? Preferably with included maintenance?

Your costs are completely fixed for the term and at the end you hand over the keys and get something new.

If you go with something with a good residual it doesn't even have to cost that much.

A good Winter/DD would be a golf R as an example. or a new Merc c ( damn nice interiors this year) and don't worry about repair costs as you will never be keeping it out of warranty.

Makes more sense now...

What's your budget? - meaning as another poster pointed out, is leasing/new an option? New F30, or C-class Benz?
