anyone with dinan, ess or aa tune performance numbers?
i am just curious to know how good are the tunes out there for the n63 motor?
to my knowledge there are following tunes available: 1. dinan 2. ess 3. active autowerke 4. burger tuning jb 5. hartage 6. velos design i have ess tune installed on a completely stock car. my car ran about 5.2 0-60 and 13.6 to 1/4 mile stock. with the tune time improved to 4.4 0-60 and 12.9 to 1/4 mile at 107 mph. i got these numbers with paddle shifters shifting at 6-6.5k rpm shift. has anyone tried to time their car with the tune installed? |

Dinan makes a strong tune....ive raced another forum member here with dinan tune and exhaust only and was running pretty strong.
Ive only heard great reviews about the VELOS tune and will be getting one myself. AA is solid too

have you timed your car?
have you timed your car?
what numbers did you get? ess told me that if i get the downpipes they can increase the boost by 1 psi and let the boost run higher at higher rpms i believe that wud give me atleast 0.3 to 0.5 sec improvement. what do you think? |

Throwing on downpipes and a tune will give you some serious gains. Ran 13.4 a few months ago due to a boost leak but should be around 12.0 now
I can take on a stock Z06....you will too.

I got the ess tune and it has made a huge difference in the performance. pulls much harder very very noticeable! now throw an exhaust and downpipes into the mix and you have a rocket.

I'm debating between Dinan, ESS and Velos.
Dinan: because of the warranty. I don't have to go back and forth with install/uninstall. If they're not so overly expensive compare to others, I like to go with Dinan. But cost is 1k more than others.. ESS: since they supercharged and tuned alot of M cars but haven't seen blew up motors yet, I tended to trust them. But it's kinda annoying that I have to have PC to install/uninstall (I only have Macs since 10 years ago so I have to download Win7 and bootcamp it just to do this). Velo: doesn't looks like they have countless software tuning experiences like Dinan/ESS but I really like the simple self tuning machine that I can keep in the car. What you guys have it and what's your opinion? Please share!

Just wanted to share my experience. I have a Dinan stage 2 for my N54 engine, and I'm fortunate enough to live near a Dinan office. Can't really say much about performance comparison as I wasn't racing or tracking, just felt the car needed more power over stock.
For what it's worth, it's never been a problem to make an appointment to reload the software whenever it's seemed like the dealer reset it. I will say I had a couple of odd occurrences after the initial install, and I'm not sure if that was related to the tune or not. Regardless, never had any issues with dealer warranty repairs. This is my first tune, and I'd say the peace of mind of the Dinan warranty and ease of dealing with all parties has been worth it. Hope that helps! |

ESS tune on E71 X6M
I also did the ESS tune on my X6M, and was blown away with the results. Smoother shifting and shockingly faster acceleration. Worth every penny.
