Wheel (clarification) Question..
Hello all.. so, Im looking to swap out the current (style 227) wheels on my 09 X5 Msport (which will soon be up for sale) with a set of x6M or even x5m wheels.. I was told by someone that this cannot be done due to the bore of the wheels or something along the lines of that.. Can someone please chime in and clear this up for me? I know there are a few members on here that have done it..

They look just like spacers, but 20mm and you bolt the adapter to the hub and the wheel to the adapter. There are also versions that come with longer bolts, so you bolt the wheel and adapter to the hub with one set of bolts.

Oh ok.. anyone have any experience with this type of setup? Also will the 2011+ Msport wheels fit directly onto the 09-10 or will this adapter apply to both setups?

You can get M replica wheels that have the correct hub bore or even get the rear M wheels machined to 74.1mm.

From the research I've done, all E70 X5 wheels including M Sport are interchangeable. X5M, X6 and X6M all share the same bore size for the rear. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

You're correct E70 have a 74.1mm hub bore all around, X5M/X6M/X6 have a 74.1mm front hub bore and 72.56mm rear hub bore.

No you can only get them machined larger, you can get a hub centric ring that allows larger bore wheels to fit smaller bore hubs. Usually good tire shops sell them they can be metal or a hard plastic I have used both and both work fine. Lots of people run without them, there is a risk of the wheel wobbling a bit because the lugs are now centering the wheel not the hub.

You can get the M wheels machined/bored out to a larger size to fit the E70.
