Required coding for LCI (LCD Tail Lights Retrofit)
So I finished with installation portion of LCI Tail Lights retrofit for my X5 E70. Can someone please let me know how to code it now, to get rid of the "failure in left stop light" and "failure in right stop light" messages ?

+MUEH to FA in CAS > CAS module
+MUEH to FA in FRM > FRM module This will reset your FRM. You will redo any coding that you had previously done in that module. Here's a more detailed explanation on how to do Vehicle order changes: Run NCS Expert Load Profile > ‘Expert Mode’ > OK Press F2 ‘CHASSIS’ > select ‘E70’ > OK Press F1 ‘VIN/ZCS/FA’ > F2 ‘Enter FA’, select ‘E70’ > OK ‘Enter VIN’ (already displayed) > OK ‘Enter FA’ dialog. Add/delete desired options > OK > F6 ‘Back’ Press F4 ‘Process ECU’. Select ‘CAS’ > OK Press F2 ‘Change Job’. Select ‘FA_WRITE’ > OK Press F3 ‘Execute Job’ Press F1 ‘Change ECU’. Select ‘FRM’ > OK Press F2 ‘Change Job’. Select ‘FA_WRITE’ > OK Press F3 ‘Execute Job’ Press F1 ‘Change ECU’. Select ‘CAPPL’ > OK Press F2 ‘Change Job’. Select SG_CODIEREN Press F3 ‘Execute Job’ |

I don't have the answer but I'm surprised your VIN is showing an extra "M" at the end. I don't remember noticing that on mine.
Did you try exiting the coding and restarting afresh doing the remaining steps (to code FRM etc.)? |

Brian, SUCCESS !!! The issue was with old daten files for my E70. Once I updated to the latest version all coded without any problems! Brian, your instructions were perfect. I am very happy. This is my first successful coding of my X5. Not sure why VIN# shows "M" at the end, but it worked I am a very happy man. Thank you very much for all your help, Brian

I was wondering if I'd missed something in my instructions. I obviously couldn't go back and recreate them |

For some reason the issue did not go away. I am still seeing "failed brake light" warning message every so often. Could this be because I coded FRM-2 module and LCD tail lights require FRM-3 module? What is the correct coding for FRM-2 module? I was told by Aleks from aleksop.com that FRM-3 is not a requirement, that FRM-2 can be coded to work with LCD lights just as well as FRM-3. Anyone out there experienced the same ???

Yes, I did re-do all of the steps you've provided. I actually repeated it one more time last evening. Will see if the error message comes back at all now, after the re-coding it one more time. I hope that re-coding same control module more than one time does not brake anything. So far so good, keeping my fingers crossed.

FRM2 works, I have FRM2 code with no issues. You must have missed something. FRM controls the hot and cold bulb checks. If you notice, there is now one less bulb in the LCI lights, so the FRM needs to know not to check for this. I can post a trace of my FRM when I get home
<edit>Brian, why are you spoon feeding people on coding? The information is out there, people just don't want to read

spoon feeding
Brian, there is a difference between "spoon feeding" and "assisting a forum member with coding issue". Thank you Blue Dragon, I was finally able to get rid of the error messages for my new (retrofitted) LCD tail lights. You were absolutely correct. Here is what I had to do to resolve it:
Using NCS: 1.) Select FRM module 2.) "READ ECU" 3.) Load FSW_PSW.TRC file into BMW coding tool 4.) Search for any instances of "WARM" and "KALT" parameters, related to tail lights 5.) Change all active values to inactive (deactivate) cold and warm checks 6.) Re-program FRM module by selecting "coapiReadSgGetFswPsw" and then selecting JOBNAME=CODIERDATEN_LESEN 7.) Once re-coding of the FRM module was completed, my "left tail light out" and "right tail lisght out" warning messages were gone for good. I am a happy camper now !!!! Thank you Blue Dragon for your assistance with this issue. |
