X6 M Led headlight conversion/facelift
Good morning ladies and gents. I have 2011 X6 M that was in a front end collision that i wanting to do the LED headlight conversion. I saw a company on out of China selling a harness that requires no coding etc and ive also read several post in especially Igorbmwx6 DIY post.
I just bought a 2013 to use as donor car and will be parting out the rest of it. Im assuming the headlight harness thats needs i could just use the one from the donor car as well as the FRM3 module? |

Yeah if you have a donor just use all the oem parts, and pay for coding. Seems like the only thing for the chinese harness is it may eliminate coding. Personally I would rather just do it so it all works right, especially if you have all the parts from a donor vehicle.

If you are pulling the OEM headlights from the donor car, you will want to buy the stand-alone LED retrofit harness. You can purchase it for around $100 via your local dealer, they come from German. When I did my retrofit on my E70 it only took a couple weeks to come. I was able to source the harness last year thru GetBMWParts, 61-12-2-312-375. It is also available via Schmiedmann.
Trying to utilize the existing harness from the donor vehicle would be a huge headache since it's tied in with so many other wires and harnesses. You will also want the most current FRM3 available, check RealOEM for part number. It will relieve you of coding issues in the long run. I tried utilizing the one that came with my donor and it never wanted to cooperate. I eventually broke down and bought a new uncoded FRM. I went back to stock and traded my car in recently. I still have the FRM module if your interested. I have a for sale thread on the retrofit, but I'd part out the FRM if you wanted it. |

Everything seem OK with the car. All lights is working, I didn't notice any issues, bit I read in some bmw forum , I have to change the FRM if not will cause more damage.true? |
