which rotors and pads
Its time for me to replace the front pads and rotors on the x5m, I was looking at ECS tuning and they have a lot of options any of you guys have experience with any of them, any recommendations for stock pad type performance or maybe a little better

For "stock style" I use Zimmerman and Textar. No issues. I think Brembo are the OE manufacturer for the E70 rotors though, but I prefer Zimmerman.

FCP Euro has good deals on packages with lifetime free replacement. I highly recommend stock Zimmerman rotors with Akebono pads for much less dust. I did all four corners only a couple of months ago for less than $450 shipped.

Whomever owned mine before me had the dealer put some incredibly soft front pads on the car & the brake dust is insane. I'd rather wear out discs 2x as fast & not have to deal with the biblical level of brake dust I have on the fronts now.
Any recs for pads that won't brake dust up that bad? Also - can one swap out pads without changing the senor? |

My opinion:
OE front rotors from dealer that sells online - keeps the aluminum hats Pagid rear rotors from Rock Auto Pagid front and rear pads from Rock Auto I've had the above combo for about 10 months now and I am very pleased. |

Thanks. Put some of these on my front rotors yesterday. Drove around a bit, seemed fine. Hoping the brutal brake dust I was getting is a thing of the past now.
Note: Amazon has them for $20 or more less than everyone else & I got them in 1 day vs the 10 (or more) days everyone else I checked with were estimating delivery at. BUT Amazon has them listed wrong, shows they're for the REAR of the car vs for the front. Reviews & questions have been noting this for nearly 10 years but they haven't fixed the listing. |

How's the pedal/brake response compared to the OE style pads? Did you notice the difference?

No brake dust yet & with the previous pads I'd have already been seeing some dust form up on the wheels. Last edited by Rich807; 03-08-2021 at 09:31 AM.. |
