LED halos on all 2012 X5M\'s?
Did all 2012 X5M vehicles produced have LED halos? Or did the change to LED happen mid-cycle that year as happened with my 2012 X5 3.5??
Thanks in advance! |

FYI, X5 and X5M use different headlights. X5M uses X6/X6M headlights. And full LED headlights are option for 2013 models.

Should clarify my question...the rings (angel eyes) that surround the actual lens were traditional yellow in the past...did those rings alone go LED in mid 2012 production year OR were all 2012 X5M's produced with LED rings?

None of the 12 rings are LED. You have to go aftermarket for that. 13 is the only one that came with LED from the factory and its a completely different setup

Hmmm...so the basic X5's incorporated LED halo rings in mid cycle for 2012 production year...but the more exclusive X5M did not incorporate it as standard until 2013 production? If that is true, it is dumbfounding. Any insight from anyone else?

Yep - it was the same story on the E9x 3 Series, and the E9x M3 which never actually got the LED halos.

The LED on the 2013 X5M was optional, but not standard. The X5M are behind the rest of the X5. For example, look at the new X5 that came out for 2014 while the new X5 still isn't out yet. Get the last 7 of the VIN and check the specs and see if it has S522A (Xenon) or S552A (Adaptive LED).

Dumbfounding, I suppose. The 13 adaptive LED ones are straight sexy and TBH the regular LCI x5 headlights look good but arent anything special. Aftermarket LED's get the job done, besides are you really buying an X5M for the LED halos? LOL.

'basic' X5's (non-M models) got the LED halos for the entire 2012 production run (starting with the April 2011 builds - which were 2012 models).

My basic 35d is built in August 2011 and is officially 2011 vehicle, not 2012. |

So there really are some 2011's with the LED halos - they're just all d models? I've run 100's of VINs through the decoder in my vehicle search and never seen a 2011 model built after March 2011. Ever April build vehicle is the model year ahead (April 2011 = 2012 model) for the 35i and 50i. |
