There are quite a few tuners out there, just google. They even advertising on this site, and yes you could void your warranty if you have a engine fail.

Although I have not seen an diesel engine break, you can pick up 100nm of torque with a tune.

Even use the "search" on the forum here, you will find plenty of info.

it will not "run of out warranty". Contrary to what some people say on forums, you cannot "void" a warranty. What you can do, however, is have a specific warranty claim denied if a mod you did can be shown to be the cause of the failure. e.g. - I put a new exhaust on..... That doesn't mean i can't file a warranty claim for my windshield wipers, but it could be cause to deny a powertrain claim... "your exhaust caused increased back pressure which in turn dorked up your engine. Claim denied"

here's a pretty good write up on it. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=803106

Piggybacks generally cheaper solution and can be easily removed prior to dealer visits by the user. Some of them:

BMS JBD, VAC Module, DTUK CRD-T.

ECM Remap is a finer and more expensive approach to tune the engine and per tuner claim are undetectable on the dealer level. However it can not be removed by the end-user before the service visits. Some of them:

Evolve, RennTech, Mega-Speed.

Here is a very detailed article on box vs remap: http://www.endtuning.com/dieseltuningboxes.html
