2011 X6M loud engine, not exhaust

I just purchased a 2011 X6M and I love it.
But when I put it in M mode and take off hard, there seems to be a loud engine noise (not exhaust).
It almost sounds like a grinding noise.
If this is normal, then I am totally OK with that....but thought I would check.

It has 87K miles and does not burn any oil or smoke.
Just seems like the engine is exceptionally loud.
