reliability of water pump?

Hi Guys, Heard repeatedly about the dilemma of water pump failures for X5. I have a 2013 X5 xDrive35i with 43k miles, which is still on the original water pump. Plan to take it for a 1300 mile trip shortly and wonder if I should be worried out the breakdown of water pump on the road. What are your experiences or advice? Thanks.

Average for these water pump is around 45-50k
There’s other factors that comes to play.
45k miles with high idle time(city traffic) is different from 45k miles country commute.
Suck thing about it is that theres no intermittent warning. When it fails it just die.
Best thing is to go out and run a bleed test( ignition on, floor the gas pedal 10sec) and listen if the pump still sound strong and healthy. It will ramp up and down.

Sounds like a story from our E90 days... Did a proactive electric water pump replacement at 160,000Km / 100,000 miles....

Think I’ll just ride this one out... 64,349.5 miles and counting

Our '12 50i started to leak around 120k miles and we also replaced the auxillary pump as well. Half our miles were long distance hwy miles so city driving will do more wear and tear.

isnt 35i engine is synced with timing belt?
if it is, water pump is not something to go bad that quick.. maybe your timing belt needs to be checked as well.. a different point of view for you..

Thank you guys for the feedback. Seems I should not worry too much about it right now. But I will do a bleed test as suggested by TwinSnailz.

The water pump is a well-known failure point in the E70 N55.
