Bluetooth Issues

Do I need to update my bluetooth? (2013 E70M)

Sometimes the bluetooth system has issues connecting to my phone aswell as displaying music track information. I usually have to switch between media selections to try and get it to work correctly.

Also after playing music it sometimes begins to crackle, kinda like static, but more digital feel. I have to then disconnect my phone using the idrive and reconnect it for it to go away.

Maybe its my phone, maybe the idrive bluetooth module needs to be updated. Let me know if anyone else has experienced this.

I had similar experiences with my 2011 e93 335i which had a similar idrive.

Other solution is for me to switch to apple and connect my phone via usb. Or buy a cheap iphone/itouch and use spotify through that.

I feel BMW's system is seriously flawed. The bluetooth in my 2013 Ford Focus is light years ahead of my wifes 2013 E70. Considering the price difference of these cars when new, that is upsetting. I have zero issues in my car and never have. She is constantly having to connect/disconnect/reconnect to get things to work. We both have android phones.

I haven't looked much into updating the system but I think it is possible; though I am not sure how much it will help.

Yea I wonder if it is a android issue. When i have a crappy Iphone4 connected via USB I have no issues besides the Iphone4 running out of memory. Maybe I'll finally give in an switch to the apple ecosystem...

I have the same Bluetooth issues. Mine crackles on occasion. Also mine "skips" a bit when playing.

Song info is hit or miss on my 2012 x5d when streaming Spotify. I have a Note 9

You may fixed the issue by now, but if not, I had the exact same issue with my BMW X5 2011 E70.. on BMW update website it said my car's multimedia was already on the latest version. I looked in many places and finally found an update for the multimedia system, my previous version was:
Multimedia: MX-003.004.031
Telephone: TX-003.004.031

After the update with UPD01008.bin on a flash drive the updated version is:

Multimedia: MX-003.005.004
Telephone: TX-003.005.008

Thanks for posting this, but your google drive link looks to only allow downloading of the parent file. Can you make sure that all of the files under the .bin are downloadable?

As far as I'm concerned the weird static thing is normal. Both my 335d and x5d do the same exact thing... I'll be listening to music, it'll glitch, skip around and bit, then will sometimes go back to playing fine or it does it's little "bzzzt" noise every few seconds until I turn off Bluetooth and reconnect again.
It's frustrating that it does that but I'm so use to it now I just accept it as a flaw. The driving experience makes up for it.
